Radiation is produced naturally all of the time. It is also used to generate power, for medicine and for weapons. Our interactive model shows students how different types of radiation are produced, why radiation occurs and what ionising radiation does.

Your students make their paper models of alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, protons, neutrons, electrons and atoms. They then use their models to learn about alpha radiation, beta radiation, gamma radiation and ionisation.

The model covers alpha decay of uranium-238 to thorium-234, beta decay of carbon-14 to nitrogen-14 and gamma decay of barium-137.
